Let Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor chase your invoices (MCP)

Step-by-step: connect your AI assistant to DueChat with a scoped API key, ask 'who owes me?', draft invoices in plain English and approve every send.

You already ask your AI assistant to write emails. With DueChat, it can also answer "who owes me?", draft the invoice and line up the reminder. Nothing reaches a client until you say yes.

Short answer: create a scoped API key in DueChat, add DueChat as an MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor (about two minutes), then ask in plain English. Sends, reminders and mark-paid always show a preview and wait for your OK.

What is MCP, in one paragraph?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools in other apps (modelcontextprotocol.io). DueChat runs an MCP server, so your assistant reads your real invoices instead of guessing.

Step 1: Create a scoped key

In DueChat, create an API key and choose its scope: read, write and/or send.

Step 2: Add DueChat to your assistant

Add DueChat as a Streamable HTTP MCP server at https://duechat.io/mcp in Claude or Cursor, using your key as the Bearer token. In ChatGPT, use connectors. Custom GPTs can import DueChat's OpenAPI schema. A DueChat API key is required: there's no sign-in-and-go option yet. DueChat works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client. Step 3: Ask in plain English

Answers come from your DueChat records. Totals (quantity × rate, tax) are calculated by DueChat, not by the model.

Step 4: Approve what goes out

Sending an invoice, sending a reminder and marking an invoice paid all return a preview first. You approve in the chat (confirm_action), and DueChat sends it in your name. Every tool call is recorded in the audit log (get_audit_log).

What if the AI is closed?

The chase still runs. Every invoice gets a polite 7 / 14 / 30-day email reminder ladder signed with your name. Your assistant can pause, resume or send one early, but it doesn't have to remember. See the reminder ladder.

Can the AI email my client without asking? No. Sends, reminders and mark-paid stop for your confirmation. This is enforced by DueChat, not left to the model.
